Walking Tour: Countryside

A guided tour through the Underground Railroad and Harriet Tubman's birthplace.

What you can expect

Join us for a wonderful guided tour through the Underground Railroad. Take a narrated walk along the countryside tracing the routes of the Underground Railroad. Follow in the footsteps of Harriet Tubman and the freedom seekers, hear the stories of the enslavers and the enslaved, their lives on plantations, and the historic Bucktown Store. This tour also includes a performance of "code songs". This roundtrip walk covers 2.5 miles and lasts approximately 2.5 hours, with stops at the Brodess Plantation and the Bucktown Store. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing. We encourage you to bring a jacket (weather permitting), a hat, and a water bottle. Proceeds benefit ongoing educational programs at the museum. Please meet at the Bucktown Store (4303 Bucktown Rd. Cambridge) to begin your tour.
