Walking Tour: Downtown Cambridge

A guided tour of historic Downtown Cambridge


What you can expect

Enjoy a narrated walk through Downtown Cambridge to Long Wharf, where you will learn about the founding of Cambridge, the civil turmoil of 1963, and influential figures like Gloria Richardson. The tour covers historic sites such as High Street, the Dorchester County Court House, Christ Church and Cemetery, and the locations of slave auctions and the slave trade. You'll also hear about the infamous Patty Cannon Gang, Harriet Tubman, Samuel Green, and the significance of the Choptank River at Long Wharf. This roundtrip walk covers 1.6 miles and takes approximately 1.5 hours. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes. We encourage you to bring a jacket (weather permitting), a hat, and a water bottle.
