We Will Not Forget

In the months since the most recent president's inauguration, his goals of eliminating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from society have led to the removal of multiple images, quotes, and references of Harriet Tubman from federal websites, such as the National Park Service's page on the Underground Railroad.

Here are our thoughts on the matter:
It saddens me to know that this administration is making a concerted effort to rewrite and erase history. At the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center, we proudly promote the great legacy of General Harriet Tubman. Her courage, valor, determination, and faith exemplify the very essence and pursuit of living free and contributing to the healing and wellness of this country. Under no circumstances will we modify, reframe, or change any facet of her life or history as the greatest conductor of the Underground Railroad. Nor we will ever forget the prolific pen of Frederick Douglas, William Still, and many others who documented and informed the nation of the atrocities of slavery. Tributes shall be given to freedom seekers, abolitionists, and the many who endured and fought to end slavery in America! We are evermore emboldened to tell their stories! - Linda Harris
