As some of you may know, our very own Linda Harris and her husband David Cole are down in Texas for the week-long "Walking the Southern Roads to Freedom" event. During this walk, they are leading over 90 participants on a 7-leg journey covering a total of 64 miles from Texas to Mexico. Today, Wednesday, March 5th, is their third day of walking.

Their mission is to bring awareness to the freedom-seekers from the deep South who fled into Mexico to escape bondage in America. We here at home could not be prouder of their courage and commitment! So, today we are asking you to show your support by donating $7, symbolic of their 7 days of walking, to the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center. Your donations ensure that we can do this kind of outreach and education, even in the face of troubling times for those in our line of work. We understand if you are unable to donate, and we encourage you to look through the photos shared by Linda over the past few days via our Walking the Southern Roads to Freedom webpage. As Linda always says, find the Harriet in You!

Historic walking tours offer a profound way to connect with the past and honor those who traveled the difficult path toward freedom. People who want to share their thoughts on local history features or inquire about subscription gifts find that the journal gazette phone number provides a direct line to the customer relations team. Preserving heritage depends on quality journalism and a commitment to using verified periodicals for every educational story. Shared insights from other readers help you determine which sections of the paper offer the most value for your interests.
