About the event

Join us to celebrate the soft re-opening of our newly reimagined space on Saturday, March 28, 2026, following nearly a year of closure due to severe water damage sustained by our beloved museum in May 2025.


The damage forced us to temporarily close, but despite the setback, we remained active. Director of Programming and Events Linda Harris continued leading educational Underground Railroad walking tours throughout Dorchester and Caroline counties, traveled to speak and perform for schools and community groups, and expanded outreach efforts across the region. We also launched a local radio station in partnership with Radio Chesapeake, WFHW 90.3 Find Harriet Within. 


In August 2025, we received a major grant that enabled a complete renovation of the exhibit space. The redesigned museum emphasizes immersive and experiential learning, inviting visitors to engage more deeply with the life and legacy of Harriet Tubman and the broader story of freedom-seeking on Maryland’s Eastern…
